The only difference being that, the three games have since been up-rezzed from 720p to 1080p for the PS4. This ‘HD’ Bundle is, in fact, a re-release of the original HD-ified collection that was sold for the PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2012. DMC 1 hit the PS2 in 2001, DMC2 in 2003 and DMC3 arrived in 2005, so these games are up to 17 years old now. But dear reader, there is a right way and a wrong way of going about it.ĭevil May Cry (DMC) HD Collection contains DMC 1,2 & 3, making it easy to hack and slash your way through some of the true gaming trendsetters of the adventure/ slasher genre. So, it’s no surprise that titles from this generation are dragged out of Publishers archives, given a new lick of paint, and dropped onto the current generation of consoles for an all-new audience to buy and enjoy. The game is already available on PS3 and Xbox 360.The Playstation 2 was home to some of the most important video games in gaming history. In the meantime, fans can look forward to revisiting the original trilogy next year.ĭevil May Cry HD Collection will launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 13, 2018. Whether or not Devil May Cry 5 will ever see the light of day remains to be seen. While it wasn't announced at PlayStation Experience as previously rumored, there's still some evidence that suggests Devil May Cry 5 is indeed in development, and some fans may be more likely to pick it up if they have a chance to play through the first four games in the series first. Perhaps Capcom isn't so much concerned with providing as visually impressive of an experience as possible, but rather just making Devil May Cry fresh in the minds of players in anticipation of the Devil May Cry 5 launch. And while it's true that Devil May Cry 2 was mostly a disappointment, that's still two critically-acclaimed action games for a relatively low price. As it stands, fans will be able to buy Devil May Cry HD Collection at a mere $30 when it launches in 2018, which comes out to about $10 per game. It's possible Capcom didn't want to put too much effort into bringing Devil May Cry HD Collection to current-generation consoles, as doing so may have forced the company to raise its price. Adding 4K resolution could also have been enough to convince some fans that already have Devil May Cry HD Collection to buy the game again on new-gen consoles. After all, both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are now on the market, and both can support a version of 4K graphics. It's somewhat surprising that Capcom didn't add 4K support for Devil May Cry HD Collection to sweeten the pot. While this upgrade will undoubtedly be appreciated by fans, some may be disappointed to learn that the game will not support 4K resolution visuals. This is an upgrade from the 2012 release, which ran at 60fps in just 720p resolution. However, we now know how the new collection is slightly better than the one that came before it.Īccording to Capcom, the version of Devil May Cry HD Collection for PC, PS4, and Xbox One will have run at 60 frames per second in 1080p resolution. This new collection is basically the same as the one that released for last generation consoles, bringing together the first three games in the series with some minor upgrades. Amidst rumors that Devil May Cry 5 is in development, Capcom announced that it is bringing the Devil May Cry HD Collection to PC and current-gen consoles.
